High Rise Generosity Gives Spencer a Special Night
Image
High Rise Scaffolding joined local businesses to support a worthy cause as the annual ball for local boy Spencer Kelly was held at Watford’s Hilton Hotel. High Rise donated a very generous £1,000 to the Spencer’s Friends’ Ball, with a number of other local businesses chipping in with prizes and items for a raffle and auction.
The Ball is an annual function run to raise money for 16-year-old Spencer, who was born with Duchene Muscular Dystrophy. He is currently in his GCSE year at Marlborough School and hopes to continue his education by doing his A-Levels. The format of the evening was a strict black tie function with champagne/bucks fizz saxophone reception with a- four-course-meal, along with games, raffle/auction, music and dancing. It was certainly a very successful event and the generosity of local people and businesses certainly put a smile on Spencer’s face. The number of people attending has grown from an initial 140 people to over 260, with this year’s fund raising allowing extra donations to the Keech Cottage Hospice, Duchene Muscular Dystrophy and Aspire Power chair SportsClub. Spencer now attends Keech Cottage, which is a children’s hospice based in Luton. The word hospice normally brings thoughts of dread and fear into most people’s minds, as it did his parents, but the establishment is absolutely superb. Spencer looks forward to his visits nearly as much as going to football, where he meets up with friends, old and new. He recently spent a week at the Calvert Trust in Exmoor with a few others in his group, taking part in activities such as archery, canoeing, and even abseiling. Spencer’s real love is his football though. With his Power Chair side Aspire currently flying high, there is plenty for Spencer to look forward to. As well as High Rise’s generous donation, funds and prizes were also given by Budgens, Hoss Photography, Langley Travel, Velvet, Poppy’s Flowers and
Evergreen FC.
