| GARSTON GRANDMOTHER GETS JUSTICE |

A Garston grandmother who flew to Australia for the trial of her brother-in-law has returned to England with justice after he was found guilty of her sister’s murder. Last month, My Garston told you of the trials and tribulations that Garston resident Valerie Bordley had gone through since the mysterious disappearance of her sister Edwina 25 years ago.
She attended the trial of brother-in-law Frederick Boyle, 58, who was accused of murdering Edwina and storing her body in a large drum at the bottom of his garden for 23 years. A Melbourne court found the father of two guilty of killing her and now Valerie can get on with her life knowing justice has been done. She told My Garston: “I’m delighted with the verdict, but, of course, I will never be happy knowing what happened. I have two nieces who are distraught and my focus is on them.” The court heard how Frederick was having an affair with another woman before the murder. Admitting that he hid the body in the 45-gallon wheelie bin, he claimed he had woken up in the morning to find she had been shot in the head. He always strongly denied murdering her and had told his two daughters that she had run off with a truck driver. Valerie has devoted the last 22 years of her life to the mystery surrounding her sister’s death, but now wishes to get on with her life. The manager of the Help the Aged store on St Albans Road has travelled back and forth to Australia since her sister went missing. She spent around a month in Melbourne this time round to attend the trial of Frederick, who will be sentenced anytime now. Valerie described the trial as “very difficult”, she now wishes to help her nieces get over this horrifying event and hopes that the publicity will slowly die down.
