GARSTON GIRL ONE STEP AWAY FROM BECOMING MISS ENGLAND |

A Garston student has made it through to the final 30 of this year’s Miss Hertfordshire after wowing judges with her looks and interviewing skills. Katrina Warnes, 20, of Eastlea Avenue, is currently in her first year at the University of Bristol studying Sociology, but managed to find the time to “randomly” enter the competition towards the end of last year.

PERSONAL TRAINER HAS CHANGED MY LIFE |

A Garston resident who suffers from Multiple Sclerosis has spoken of how personal training and motivational text messages has changed her life. Maggie Smith, 44, of Woodhurst Avenue, is a children’s party organiser who has heaped praise on her trainer, Paul Hertbert, for restoring some much needed confidence. She told My Garston: “Paul has been excellent. I started working with him once a week to start with, but now I’m up to three sessions a week.”

GARSTON GRANDMOTHER GETS JUSTICE |

A Garston grandmother who flew to Australia for the trial of her brother-in-law has returned to England with justice after he was found guilty of her sister’s murder. Last month, My Garston told you of the trials and tribulations that Garston resident Valerie Bordley had gone through since the mysterious disappearance of her sister Edwina 25 years ago. |

High Rise Generosity Gives Spencer a Special Night |

High Rise Scaffolding joined local businesses to support a worthy cause as the annual ball for local boy Spencer Kelly was held at Watford’s Hilton Hotel. High Rise donated a very generous £1,000 to the Spencer’s Friends’ Ball, with a number of other local businesses chipping in with prizes and items for a raffle and auction.

Safety Camera Partnership Reverses Speeding Convictions |

The Hertfordshire Safety Camera Partnership is reversing around 3500 speeding convictions issued to people caught speeding by a safety camera (site 313) on the B653 Lower Luton Road, Harpenden. An internal audit of all Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs) failed to produce a valid order for the site - 150 metres south of Bowers Heath Lane, southbound - from August 19 2004. On August 25 2005, enforcement was stopped while this was investigated.
