THE RUN MUST GO ON !
ImageOn the morning of the Sport Relief run there was only one thought going through the head of the Event Organiser Fitzroy Williams head: The Run Must Go On!
On Sunday 16th March 2008 Event Manager / Party Planner Fitzroy Williams, on behalf of Sainsbury’s Sport Relief organised the mile run for just under 600 pre-registered mile runners at the host venueWatford Harriers. Unfortunately the weather was not in their favour.
In true Watford spirit this did not deter the WatfordMilers, who braved the elements in their hundreds to do their bit in the Watford leg of this national campaign for Sport Relief 08. The organisers had entertainment booked, but unfortunately the heavy down-pours and blustering winds caused them to cancel some of it on the morning of the event, and they even had to relocate their booking-in area due to the winds lifting up the marquees out of the sodden ground. Even with these challenges the event organisers still managed to put on some hot refreshments and a BBQ for the supporters of the Mile event runners which took part in 4 waves: Two 1-mile (4 laps) runs, one 3 -mile (12 laps) run and a 6-mile (24 laps) run. They even had a face painter on hand for the kids. Rhythm Masters Entertainmentsengaged a couple of photographers from Wilson & Wilson photographers to be hot on the trail of the runners, getting action shots during the course of the day. For event photos please go to the gallery page at www.rme-events.com.Fitzroy from Rhythm Masters Entertainments was literally running up and down the venue motivating those queuing in the wind and rain waiting to book in for their
run, briefing and encouraging those who were running, and also geeing up the supporters when necessary. Fitzroy would like to send a massive thank you to all the volunteers for giving up their time to help with the event, to the Watford Harriers for hosting the event and also express appreciation to some local companies that helped put this event on, namely;J&L Indulgence
For managing the booking-in office Amber Cars
Who supplied volunteers and kindly sponsored the Children’s play area, which unfortunately had to be
cancelled
Wilson and Wilson Photographers Who took photo’s on the day and who are donating profits to the Sport Relief fund
The 2 local Bands That performed outside Sainsbury’s over the preceeding weekends helping to raise awareness of the event; “Together un-just” and “Stylust”.And last but by no means least “The Complete Barbeque Service” who braved the elements all day and who also donated their profits to the Sport Relief fund. The total funds generated from this event are still being calculated by the Sport Relief office and will be published as soon as known. Again, Rhythm Masters Entertainments would like to thank all the 540 runners and their supporters that turned up for the mile run, and we hope you enjoyed the event, even with the unkind weather. Hope to see you again at the next one.
