THE PEACE HOSPICE THANKS WATFORD F.C.

The ongoing relationship between the Peace Hospice and Watford Football Club was recognised at a reception hosted by the hospice last month. The evening was organised by the fundraising team to honour the club for its continuing involvement with the hospice, having been heavily involved since the days of Graham Taylor back in 1995. Chairman Graham Simpson and manager Aidy Boothroyd were joined by a number of staff at the event which saw the Club presented with an engraved plaque to recognise their work. Guests were greeted by a large yellow and red scarf wrapped around the hospice before entering for drinks and a short film about the relationship between the two bodies. This was followed by the hospice’s community fundraising manager, Gill Crowson, saying a few words on the bond the Peace Hospice and the Club have built up in the last 13 years. She said: “This evening is an opportunity to recognise the work done by those at Watford Football Club and to thank the doers. “Graham Taylor used to come in and play Scrabble with the patients and Luther Blissett would also come in. But support has moved on since Graham (Simpson) came in and lots of things have happened.” Gill went on to mention some of those things that have happened since the Chairman took over in 2002, which includes offering the hospice a free advertising board at Vicarage Road and sponsoring a room at the hospice in 2003.
